A candlelight concert set to dazzle guests left them feeling underwhelmed.

People have spoken of their disappointment after attending a Candlelight Concert in Southampton on Friday night.

Guests were sold a concert ‘illuminated by candlelight and performed by live musicians’ at Southampton Art Gallery.

But what they were given was something else entirely, attendees have said.

Alice Spake went to the 7pm concert on Friday night.

She said: “The Candlelight Concerts experience was really underwhelming especially as it was in such a beautiful venue at Southampton Art Gallery.

“While the quartet was fantastic, we couldn't see anything, the candles were nothing like advertised and we left extremely disappointed.”

Event organiser Fever has come under fire following the highly anticipated event.

It is regularly advertised on social media, particularly TikTok, showing an incredible scene of hundreds of candles surrounding a quartet, who were performing in the dark.

This is the opposite to what was shown on Friday though with blogger Cara Dee saying: “We were sold a night of romance and glamour, and what we got was an undressed room where we couldn’t see the quartet or the candles.

"It was hugely disappointing."

Fellow attendee Fay Cullen bought the 'best view' seats for the event, but spent most of the evening unable to see the performance.

She said: "I booked the tickets as my partner and I got married in the venue and it was extremely sentimental.

"I cannot emphasise enough how disappointed we were with the experience.

"The marketing completely mis-sold it. I feel utterly conned. The 'Zone A, best view' seats went back much farther than expected.

"Our only view was of the back of the audience's heads.

"We couldn't not see a single candle, nor any of the musicians.

"The advertisements show hundreds of candles illuminating each venue. However, there were only a group of candles at the front and a few on the inner aisle.

"It was pitiful in comparison."

She added: "I have requested a refund from Fever.

"I feel fundamentally misled by the advertising.

"I would not attend another event and would like to create awareness so others dont spend their hard earned money on overpriced, misleading events.

Fever has been contacted for a comment.
