GENESEE COUNTY, MI — Fall is fast approaching and kids are back in classrooms, but there’s still a little time left to savor the final days of summer.

With Labor Day weekend approaching, here are five places for families and kids to swim in the Flint area before summer unofficially ends in Michigan:

Bluebell Beach

This beach, located at 5500 N. Bray Road in Genesee Township, has pavilions, a splash pad for the kids, 14 shade kites and access to the Flint River Bike Path.

Bluebell Beach is home to the area’s first splash pad spray ground. This water attraction shoots water in a timed sequence from the ground and also from various play structures on the splash pad, according to geneseecountyparks.org. Please note, there are no lifeguards on duty.

It is typically open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day each year, but may stay open until Oct. 1, weather permitting. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Lake Callis

This is a pay-to-use park with a beach and swimming area, the Dash-n-Splash Pad, changing rooms, pavilions, grills, the Beach Treats concession stand, and an observation deck.

Located at 1152 N. Gale Road in Davison, the park is open through Labor Day. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, and on Friday nights, there are movies on the beach, weather permitting.

Seven Lakes State Park

This park features about 230 acres of water with several miles of shoreline, according to michigandnr.com. The park has a combination of farmland, rolling hills, forests and swimming beaches.

It’s located at 14390 Fish Lake Road in Holly, and hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Silver Lake Park

This 35-acre, lakefront park offers a beach area with lifeguards, bath house, playground and picnic area.

Located at 16000 Jennings Road in Fenton, it is the city’s largest park spanning 35.4 acres. There are ball fields, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, two pavilions with electricity, badminton courts, play equipment for children, 300 feet of beach area with lifeguards, a bath house, concession stand, nature trails and picnic areas with grills, according to cityoffenton.org.

The park is open year round, but the beach is only open through Labor Day.

Summer hours are generally 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, closing after dark. Season passes are $25 for residents and $35 for non-residents.

Clover Beach at Linden County Park

Linden County Park, part of the Genesee County parks system, includes a swimming beach on Byram Lake, ball fields, basketball and tennis courts, pavilions, picnic areas, play equipment and trails. It is located at 15349 S. Linden Road in Linden.

The park is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. For more information, click here.
